“I’m not trying to educate, to teach the public something, but rather to encourage curiosity about neuroscience and raise questions.”
Laurent Nexon, a doctor of neuroscience, has been creating “biological theatre” plays for the past three years in collaboration with students and young researchers in neuroscience, as a result of the desire to share science in a different way.
This form of popularization makes it possible to address scientific and social subjects whilst remaining in the light and comic register of the theatre.
It is the combination of Laurent Nexon’s writing, now project coordinator at the University of Strasbourg, and the theatrical experience of director Nora Salaberry, a doctoral student at the Institute of Cellular and Integrative Neurosciences, that has made it possible to present original and high-quality works to an ever-growing audience. Doctoneuro members take on the different characters to arouse the curiosity of the general public, especially during Brain Awareness Week.
